For Visitors from Overseas
A 6th-grade medical student from Turkey experienced short-visit at our department.
Our department, the Department of Hematology Kyoto University Hospital, accepted a 6th-grade medical student from Turkey for 2-week short-visit program of our department. Ms. Bilgehan Özaydın from Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University Faculty of Medicine observed clinical practice for inpatients, attended our routine conferences as well as brief lectures about clinical hematological diseases and basic research of our department from our department members from Aug 26th to Sep 6th , 2024. Ms. Özaydın observed not only usual hematological procedures but also some advanced medical treatments, such as hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, CAR-T cell therapy and bispecific antibody therapy.
Ms. Özaydın states “This experience was highly beneficial, offering a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge and practical training. I gained a significant understanding of advanced therapies such as hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, CAR-T cell therapy, and bispecific antibody therapy, which expanded my perspective on innovative treatments in hematology. Having the opportunity to learn directly from highly skilled experts each day was immensely valuable. Additionally, attending the weekly clinical case discussions deepened my knowledge and strengthened the link between theory and practice. Moreover, the department's supportive environment made me feel like a part of the team, and I felt so welcomed and engaged that I never wanted to leave...” after this short visit.
We appreciate that Ms. Özaydın diligently participated in this observation program and it was a great experience for us, as well. We look forward to the next brilliant students abroad and hospital visitors from foreign countries.
